The word “haunted” covers several very different outings in New Orleans. A night of supernatural storytelling is not interchangeable with a cemetery visit or an introduction to a religious tradition. Choose by the experience you want, then check the route and inclusions before booking.
Ghost tours: start with the route and tone
The city’s tourism organization presents ghost tours, cemetery experiences, voodoo and vampire legends as different parts of its haunted-tour offering. A general ghost walk can be a useful starting point if your group wants a broad evening introduction rather than a single specialist subject.
Do not infer building entry from the name of a famous haunted address. Ask whether the guide tells the story from the street, enters a courtyard or includes an interior visit. Those differences affect the experience more than a dramatic product title.
Vampire tours: choose them for the storytelling
If vampire lore is your main interest, look for an itinerary that explicitly centers it rather than assuming a mixed ghost tour will spend much time on it. Ask how much of the experience concerns folklore, literary themes or theatrical presentation.

Confirm the cemetery’s exact name, admission arrangements, departure time and meeting location. A stop outside a cemetery is different from an interior guided visit. The rules for one cemetery should not be generalized to every cemetery in the city.

Voodoo-focused tours: ask what you will learn
A tour advertised around voodoo deserves a closer look at its interpretation. Ask what history it covers, who leads it and whether the description treats religious practice respectfully rather than using it simply as a horror prop.
We recommend separating two questions: “Will this entertain our group?” and “Will this help us understand the subject?” Look for an operator that explains the distinction between historical evidence, religious interpretation and popular legend. A dramatic marketing label alone does not answer either question.
If you have only one evening
